I sent money

Contact the institution you paid from now

Use the number on your card, statement, or the institution’s official app. Do not use a number or link supplied by the suspected scammer. Ask for the fraud team. Stop sending money and do not pay someone who promises guaranteed recovery.

You can call before filling in anything here. Ask whether the payment can be stopped, recalled, reversed, or disputed and whether the receiving institution can hold remaining funds while it reviews the suspected scam.

SpamDam cannot freeze money or notify your institution automatically. Only the relevant institution or authority can confirm what action is possible.

Ask the card issuer about stopping a pending payment or disputing / reversing a completed payment, and securing the card if necessary.

1. Reach your fraud team

Open your bank or payment provider’s official app, or enter a trusted number below to open your phone dialer.

Enter and verify the number to enable the call link.

Opening the dialer does not submit a report or confirm a hold.

2. Prepare what to say or send

These details stay in this open page unless you copy, download, print or submit them yourself. They are not saved to SpamDam. Do not enter passwords, PINs, one-time codes, full card numbers, or bank account numbers.

3. Record the institution’s actual response

Ask for a case number, date, representative or department, next steps, deadlines and written confirmation of any hold or recall. A request is not a confirmed hold. A recall attempt is not a completed refund. Save the response and original receipts in your private evidence log.

After contacting the institution, report the suspected scam using the official FTC reporting site or FBI IC3 as appropriate. These links open reporting sites; no information is submitted automatically.

Choose whether to contribute matching details. Do not delay the bank call while collecting evidence or waiting for a match.
