Could an unwanted call be worth money?
Certain violations of federal law can carry statutory damages of $500, and a court may increase that amount up to $1,500 for a willful or knowing violation. That does not mean every unwanted call qualifies. The caller, consent, purpose, technology used, facts, and proof all matter.
1. Log it. Save the call details and what was said.
2. Build it. Organize call history, related text/email screenshots, scam receipts, recordings, and consent records.
3. Prepare it. Generate complaint-ready information and litigation paperwork for your review.
4. Pursue it. File complaints or evaluate a lawful financial claim where applicable.

Calls, messages, and scam receipts
For anyone dealing with a suspected scam: a text, email, or payment receipt may reveal a sender, merchant, payment recipient, or intermediary worth investigating.
Record that statement and its approximate time in your call notes. Add screenshots of the message, keeping the sender number or email, date, website, and reference number visible. Save different numbers separately in your notes so the connection can be reviewed.
Attach a receipt screenshot to the related call. Note who claimed to send it, who received the money, the amount, and any transaction reference. These details can help identify whom to ask for records and explanations; they do not automatically prove wrongdoing.
Use the current screenshot and notes tools to keep related evidence together privately. Automatic text/email scanning and matching are not available yet. A matching message does not by itself verify a company, and a sender number may not accept replies. Exclude passwords, verification codes, and full card or bank numbers from uploads; retain originals securely.
